Progressive Foundry and Van Kirk Families pledge $250,000 to build DMACC at Perry

Perry Economic Development, Inc. announced today a major gift of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars from Progressive Foundry and the Van Kirk families to build the new DMACC Career Academy at Perry.

“This represents a significant vote of confidence from one of Perry’s prominent businesses and supportive families”, said Bill Clark vice-president of Perry Economic Development, Inc. and General Chair of the Capital Campaign.

It was also announced that Pete Van Kirk has agreed to serve as Co-Chair of the Building our Future Today Capital Campaign.

Twenty four teams of volunteers are contacting potential donors throughout the region to raise the one million dollars necessary to complete construction of this DMACC Career Academy.

The DMACC at Perry is made possible by a $1.55 million dollar State of Iowa “I-JOBS” grant, with matching region-wide support from public and private partners.

Des Moines Area Community College will develop the curriculum and lead collaboration between area school districts to utilize the Center for vocational and technical training for high school juniors and seniors who can earn both high school and DMACC credit simultaneously.

DMACC will also develop curriculum for adult learners to utilize the center in the evening and on weekends for vocational and technical training as well as those individuals who want to pursue college credit in arts and sciences as well as English as a Second Language.
